We've all been there-trying out the latest fad diet-not a good thing. These crazy fad diets set us up for failure because all they do is help us to try and outsmart our bodies into thinking we'll lose weight by eating just bananas or drinking just fruit juices. What this does is set us up to do a binge eating episode that could last all night! Been there!
Binging is an emotional experience. When we deprive ourselves of what we want or what our body needs, we set off a panic button in our brains that triggers a craving. These cravings can be so intense that we cannot ignore them and once we "cave to the crave" we've lost the battle. We can't rein ourselves in and we eat everything in sight. Binging is very hard on our bodies, they are mentally stressful and emotionally sets us up to gain even more weight.
What's the solution?? Never go hungry-yup, that's right-never go hungry! You should eat every couple of hours-breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack-6 times a day! You can skip a snack once in awhile, but you really need those energy boosts during the day to keep your blood sugar levels up and have enough energy to last all day.
I had a problem coming to terms with this myself-I am a major breakfast & lunch skipper-I rarely ate anything before 3:00 in the afternoon-but wow-watch out, I would be starving and eat any kind of junk food I could lay my hands on. Now-it's more like I want to plan what I will eat each day. It's actually fun to do the daily/weekly menus and go shopping for groceries again. Trying out recipes I haven't made in years, but bringing them into the 21st century! LOL! I've posted a recipe below-that I adapted this morning and can hardly wait to give this a try myself. Enjoy!
